Michael J. Stewart is a Hatha Yoga teacher with a varied background.
Michael's Yoga journey has taken him from the Jivamukti studio in New York City to study with Iyengar teachers Sharat Arora and Rajiv Chenchani in India. His teaching is inspired by the spirituality of Swami Sivananda and the deep insight of Patanjali. He is also known internationally as a Movement facilitator, African Drumming teacher, Choreographer and Theatre director.

In my journey with yoga, pranayama is one of the pillars of my practice. Each day through the various explorations with pranayama I find new aspects of my subtle nature. Pranayama is one of the simplest techniques to realize that there is more to us than the body, the mind, the thoughts and emotions. Another voice emerges each time we practice to remind us that there is MORE, all we need do is be still and breathe. The only way to fully understand this is simply to open your heart, your mind and practice regularly.

Marti Johnston, Master of Fine Arts, Mills College, received her yoga teaching certificate from the Nosara Institute in Costa Rica in 2005. Subsequent studies with the Laughing Lotus yogini’s and yogi’s in San Francisco taught her the incredible freedom of expression possible in this form. With close to 30 years working in the field of dance, including advanced studies in dance therapy, in yoga she has found the system and science to further define her investigations of embodiment.

Her recent pilgrimage to Haridwar, India, to the world's largest festival of faith the Kumbh Mela, Bhakti (devotion) deepened her devotional/bhakti practice. Infused with Shakti, Ma Ganga swept her into the gods and goddesses of Hindu culture. Incorporating the energies and archetypes of the deities, the intention is to create a living metaphor for new paradigms of wholeness and interconnection. Through vinyasa and flow, through deep restorative, and centering practices the breadth of yoga is explored.
